oOS stands for "organism Operating System". It is an
Open Source Web Application Framework, a "out of the box" C
ommunity-System and sometimes simply a Content-Management-System. It has a
steep learning curve due to the lack of a backend. Everything is edited in place while the available functions may vary extremely flexible for each user.
oOS is based on LAMP and the software architecture MVC (Model View Controller). This allows developers adding to the core system and as well as adding new modules easily and without breaking the integrity of the system. Development started in early 2004 and is currently at Version 2.0373. Daily updates to the SVN-Repository keep oOS up to date.
oOS is used by the german office for family affairs (for their youth portal netzcheckers.de), the polish office for the enviroment, the soccer star Tim Borowski and a plethora of projects including cellcast.de, dasbeep.de and more.
